Unfortunately, we do not. We have chosen to focus on what we specialize in so we can provide the highest level of service to our clients. We highly recommend Rowe & Jimenez www.roweandjimenez.com, a successful, local San Diego tax firm that has been preparing tax returns for over 30 years.
Yes, we highly recommend that all businesses have bank and credit card accounts that are completely separate from their personal accounts. Keeping personal and business money together can create a situation where taxes are filed inaccurately, or cause wasted time by being unorganized or overspending. Separating them will also ensure the most accurate financials and save you money on bookkeeping services. We will gladly walk you through what expenses should be paid out of your business accounts in order to maximize deductions.
Yes, we have experience with clients who manufacture parts and we track their inventory. Other clients sell alcohol, shoes, bags & purses all over the world via brick & mortar stores and online platforms.
We have a secure portal that you can send sensitive documents. If not sensitive in nature, we prefer email or Dropbox and of course, documents can always be mailed to our P.O. Box that is located at a secure USPS location.
Yes, we believe in promoting fellow small businesses to our clientele, friends and family as well as listing them on our website or Facebook page. But we only promote companies that we truly believe in and have had a positive experience working with.
Yes, we are experienced in forming LLC & S Corporations, including appointing a Registered Agent, filing Articles of Incorporation for corporations or Articles of Organization for LLCs, getting an EIN number and filing a Statement of Information.
Business name (we'll assist you in finding out if the name is available), address, principal place of business, purpose of the business, and the names & addresses of owners & officers.
It takes about 3 weeks for to close a CA corporation with the CA Secretary of State, but since you have to file final income tax returns and possibly final sales tax and payroll tax returns, it is best to start the dissolution process at least 3 to 4 months months prior to the end of your last fiscal year.
In order to close a corporation, you'll need to liquidate any assets, file Articles of Dissolution (we can assist with that), and file final tax returns.
The technical definition of sales tax is any business that sells or leases tangible personal property needs a sellers permit. If your business has a physical presence in California, you must collect sales tax at the point of sale. After collecting sales tax from your customers, you will need to remit those funds to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration or CDTFA.
Use tax applies to the use, storage or consumption of merchandise that were purchased without paying sales tax. Use tax can also apply if you purchased merchandise from an out-of-state seller that did not charge you sales tax. If you brought it back to CA and used it in CA, as the buyer, you would owe a use tax.
We are finding that almost every service or retail business that conducts business in CA is now getting notices from the CDTFA requiring them to either start filing or asking them send documentation showing they do not need to file. We have decades of experience with CDFTA notices & audits and are happy to help.
You will need the following information: Officer's DOB, Drivers License or Passport, SSN & email address, the name & address of a supplier, personal references, FEIN and CA Sec of State #. The CDTFA usually doesn't charge a fee and you can get a temporary seller's permit instantly online or about 2 months to get the permanent one.
The auditors will want to see exemption certificates, tax returns, bank statements, credit card statements, invoices and receipts. They will want to verify gross sales, sales tax rates, shipping addresses & shipping charges. In CA, they can go back 3 years, unless you fail to file, then they can go back 8 years. We have had a lot of success helping clients through sales tax audits.
Absolutely. Triggers we have found are: if your tax return income doesn't match the income reported on your sales tax reports, if there are lots of rounded numbers like $15,000, always filing late, forgetting use tax or having too many deductions.
Retailers, manufacturers and importers of heavily regulated goods, services and activities such as cigarettes, alcohol, soda, gasoline, insurance, amusement and betting are subject to excise tax. It is usually calculated on a per-unit basis rather than a percentage of the purchase price. Excise taxes can be paid to federal, state and local entities. We have experience with excise tax and are happy to help.
All corporations, LLCs, LPs, LLPs or GPs have to form/register their entity with the CA Sec of State. Sole proprietors only have to file their fictitious business name with the Sec of State. We are quite familiar with the CA Sec of State and are happy to help your registration, renewal or termination.
